Communities or Tribes – either way, to connect shout out (14)

Happy 2013

In English because I belong to an international tribe

  • there is the good news of no cancer of the uturus, which is great
  • The physiotherapist said this morning that the muscles in my back and shoulders are like the ones from a young goddess, well not exactly in that words, but vital above expectation, which is great news and promising
  • My headaches are far less and that is fantastic
  • It was so nice to be with my sis and hubby yesterday and have a belated new years bubbly drink and a nice talk
  • I woke up much too early at 04.00 am but that meant at the same time that I slept until 04.00 am and that suffices for now
  • It gave me the opportunity to watch some TEDxTalks and some great and funny ones for that matter:

    Lamp Light   by Nikki Gemmell

…a poemisch letter to her and other God Daughters and actually to all young women in the world.
Great stuff and very empowering which I tremendously enjoyed watching and listening to.
I sent it to my own God daughter in Scotland who will depart for a trip around the world in three days time and did not choose a too comfortable route for a young woman traveling on her own. She will be blogging and will be calling in on Skype and Facebook and I am ever so happy about that.

How to find a tribe that loves your art

    about tribes and communitees

Than there is this very special TEDTalk by Heather Dale who, ever since she was a young girl, does not want to fit in and found out she did not have to,  ánd still is able to earn a good living while writing and performing non-mainstream multi layered Celtic songs based on fairy tales. She says, I am really not a cool hit. What a mouthful.
At the same time, still being a Dr Who and Star Wars fan like she was all her life, and Roll playing fan since she found out the existence of that concept, she is at the same time a successful owner of a record company, a singer and performer, and she  speaks about  “How to find a Tribe that loves who your are ?”  I think it is a great motivator for people on the path of exploring their creativity and how they can bring it to the world, as for example my dear friend JJVoerman has the intention to get on stage in 2013

Get or have a life!

Watching it for the second time now and in between having read the blog from Elja Daae about online communities being yes or no as real a part of life as in and out doors home, friends and work, I do see a resemblance and for all I know a similarity between these two concepts: Tribes and Communities of  like-minded individuals... Connected via social media in a community is comparable to the concept of a Tribe – with me having this additional thought coming from personal experience: to do a frequent reality check as to whether or not it takes on addictive forms or stays really serving the purposes of being connected in a sense of meaningfulness (which is a very personal thing to judge and nobody should do for another person in my opinion). A  reality check of legitimate value for one self and tackle illusions if necessary. It brings about the question of which tribe is mine, where do I belong to as a not-working, semi-spiritual, semi-artistic, non-professional somebody without a steady relationship.
Yes of course I belong to the ‘Tribe’ of the human race for starters, but that is too big a bubble. Then of course there is my family tribe, much valued but also loosened through the years, although very important and dear to me.
And there is the wide spread tribe of my old friends, spread over the globe, with whom the moment I see them, on- or off line, the contact is direct, intimate and intense and continuing from where we stopped the last time. So real valuable friendship with irregular contact.
Like right now, on a distance I am waiting, but ready to board a train any minute if necessary or wanted, there is todays Sword of Damocles my tribal friends in Germany ar under, which either will hit Rock or Bottom, a yes or no halt to the pancreas cancer for the moment, yes or no spread in the body of dear husband H of  Best Friend U. After an operation which brought diabetes and all those months of aggressive chemo this is a crucial day for them. They are absolutely part of my tribe and therefore I am of theirs.
I don’t have that many friends living close by unfortunately, this I can only explain with a 10 years move to Turkey and after that a ten years building up friendships with colleagues end becoming colleagues with friends, but with two dying on me and the world and astrangement, with the disconnection of the first (colleagues) as well losing the lather (friends).
Having moved only a year ago, and a huge burnout in between, that did not leave much opportunities to connect to new communities other than my choir and the people I see (from their perspective) professionally.
So that leaves, apart from the VIP odd 3 or 4, also not living  in my ‘hood’, my Online Community Tribe: the more or less like-minded, like-hearted  or like-spirited people I know from more recent or lets say since give or take a year or two, either via Twitter, FaceBook, or from blogging.
And yes, like last Friday, every once in a while we meet up in various combinations for various occasions in what they still call In Real Life (IRL) I guess. I do agree with Elja, for myself there is no difference anymore, on-line is for me as real a connection with all its possibilities and its boundaries as off-line, although each of their own kind.
Where for some people this might sound pathetic and actually told me to get al life, this is what my real life looks like at the moment, and with a lot of gratitude it is that I realize how much good this has brought me in the past two years.

More tribal tomorrow, and than also a comparison between Western Europe and the Mediterranean social ways of connecting and shouting out.

So yes I shout out to my tribe all over the Globe, on and off line, stay in touch, not only with me, but with each other!

Shout, shout, let it all out
These are the things I can do without
Come on – I’m talking to you
Come on

In violent times, you shouldn’t have to sell your soul
In black and white, they really, really ought to know
Those one-track minds that took you for a working boy
Kiss them goodbye – you shouldn’t have to jump for joy

You shouldn’t have to jump for joy

Shout, shout, let it all out
These are the things I can do without
Come on – I’m talking to you
Come on

They gave you life, and in return you gave them Hell
As cold as ice – I hope we live to tell the tale

I hope we live to tell the tale

Shout, shout, let it all out
These are the things I can do without
Come on – I’m talking to you
Come on

And when you’ve taken down your guard
If I could change your mind I’d really like to break your heart

I’d really like to break your heart

Shout, shout, let it all out
These are the things I can do without
Come on – I’m talking to you
Come on

This is the 14th day of my personal new year, with the 14th song of my choice from the Dutch Top2000 played non-stop on the radio between 25th December (my birth-day) and 00.00 hours on the 31st of December 2012.
My near to daily blogging in My Personal new year will consist of 1 pic + 1 song and some text, all more or less focused on my journey, if you want soul-searching 365 days, in order to find my new direction and purpose in life.
Where do I want to continue living? In Holland or Turkey? Or both?
What kind of work will I do for a living?
Will work be a means of earning money while doing other things to fulfill my dreams and desires, or will it be a combination?
Will I write that book which is actually written already? And so on and so fort.

And at noon on Christmas Day 2013, when the new Top 2000 starts, Insjallah I will close this sequence with a blogpost, and Insjallah will have gathered more tools, more wisdom and more knowledge to organize my life according to the screaming and yearning of my soul to be of the meaning it longs for, and to continue to love and connect with other souls on this planet.
